Information In English

Hallands nation was founded the 15th of October 1928, when a group of students decided to free themselves from Göteborgs nation. In memory of this glorious day, we are celebrating Hedviggillet, Halland Nations own birthday party, in the middle of October each year. Traditionally, students were required to be members of the nations whose area one came from, but this requirement is now voided. International students are also free to choose whichever nation they desire. Hallands nation started out with around 80 students but the nation has now grown to around 1600 members.

Halland nation is the nation for everyone. We have a mix of students  from all faculties and it’s easy to become a part of the community. We have Student Lund loveliest pub atmosphere with 35 beers from around the world and 24 whiskeys. On Wednesdays, we organize Pubquiz or show Champions league depending if there is a game on. On Fridays the cellar turns in to Klubb 3 with three bars and a fantastic range of drinks, cocktails and layered shots.

The  Activity and well-being Committee (NATU)  arrange social activities every second Tuesday and our sport committee [Spårt] provides sample sport activities every Thursday. They also organize Korpen-teams (for fun)  in soccer, floor ball and volley ball.

During the year, Hallands nation has a number of major festivities  such as Novischfesten with the other Torna-nations in September, Hedvigsgillet in October,  Bockbalen (the nations own ball) in March and Kvalborg in May.

On a day to day basis, Halland Nation is run by the Quratel. There are currently three full time employees, students just like you, who have now taken a sabbatical from their studies for a year. The Qurator has overall responsibility for the nation and leads The Quratel. The Proqurator is responsible for the nation’s economy and the Källarmästare has the overall responsibility for all activities in the basement, that is, a bar and kitchen operations. The Quratel also has two part-time who still studies but puts all his free time in the nation’s work. The Notarie The notary writes protocol on the nation’s meetings and the PR-chef manages the marketing of the nation.

The Nation wouldn’t exist though without the Förmän and their workers. As a member you are welcome to join any of our committees or to try out working with a Förman in the kitchen or a bar. At Hallands we offer lunches, brunches, dinners, pubs and clubs. We also have a choirs and a nation newspaper (Väderö).
